Routes under the project “Fascinating bicycle network in “Ozerny krai” Euroregion” will be laid in Verhnedvinsk, Miory, Braslav, Postavy and Glubokoe districts. Route lengths fall within 15–120 km and are designed for tourists of various physical training level.
Mikhail Orehov, head of department for sports and tourism under district executive committee of Glubokoe, told us that organizers will provide every tourist with a mountain bike, map of the route and even a diary. To make the journey rememberable, one can make notes and attach photos to the diary, says Mikhail Orehov. Additionally, all routes will provide global positioning systems that will allow to locate lost tourists. So far the organizing board says nothing about the price of future journeys yet they assure it will be affordable.
According to my interviewee, the fascinating bicycle network will not be restricted solely to tourist routes. A bicycle marathon is planned to be arranged within the network next year; athletes from Belarus, Russia and Baltic states are expected to participate.
