“BelKA” will Fly in June

Belarus’ first satellite has been created by Belarusian and Russian scientists
The general director of the rocket-and-space corporation “Energiya”, Nikolai Sevastyanov, told us “We plan to complete testing the satellite in April and will launch it in June.”

The space vehicle “BelKA” is based on the versatile space platform for satellites “Yamal” and is designed to receive and process high-resolution information, specialists with the corporation said.

The 150–200 kilogram optoelectronic systems of the satellite were produced by Belarusian companies. “BelKA” is expected to transmit information necessary for geodesic, cartographic and weather research for the next five years. The satellite will also be used to prevent disasters.

The first Belarusian satellite will be launched to the sun-synchronous orbit by a carrier rocket.
