International Radio Belarus increasing broadcasting in Chinese language from October

For over a year, Chinese language international broadcasts have been the norm for Belarusian radio, delivered weekly as part of the Your Friend — Belarus project. These programmes report on relations between Belarus and the People’s Republic of China, detailing trade and economic co-operation, among other events. However, from October, broadcasts are to be increased in frequency to twice a week.

The Director General of Belarus Radio, Naum Galperovich, tells us, “The main task for international broadcasting is to create a positive image of Belarus across the world media space. Since more people speak Chinese than any other language globally, and Belarus and China have close liaisons across many spheres, our broadcasts have great significance. Chinese audiences are keenly interested in our mutual projects, which has encouraged us to extend our frequency of broadcasts and our spectrum of themes: politics, economics, culture, and sports. Special focus is being given to bilateral co-operation, and the life of Chinese experts and students in our country.”
