Bar bells always ‘bend’ to the strongest athletes
Weight lifter Vadim Streltsov wins silver at Olympic Games in Brazil
The bar bell that weighs ‘silver’
The Belarusian sportsman has lifted 395kg (175+220) in the under 94kg category, taking second place at the Rio Games. One of the leading athletes of the Belarusian squad, in his first exercise, the snatch, he made only one valid lift, of 175kg. Two further appearances on the platform were unsuccessful, and the situation repeated in the second exercise. Being placed only fourth after the snatch, Vadim Streltsov began with 220kg in the clean and jerk. He succeeded but his further attempts to lift 230kg, which might have won him first place, failed. As a result, he claims silver.
