Before the concert, as usual, there aroused the “spare ticket” question, but all the tickets had been sold out long before the date of the concert.
Three years ago the President’s decision to organize an orchestra of talented students and alumni of musical higher educational institutions and colleges might have seemed to someone rather unexpected. Victor Babarikin, who was very young at that time, became the leader of the new company. He won his victory in a fair competition with other conductors.
Today the President Orchestra is as young as before (its average participant is 24 years old), but it already enjoys love and popularity with the audience.
Besides official entertainment (ceremonies with the participation of the Head of State, governmental receptions and festive nights), the orchestra’s musicians have become regular and welcome guests at such famous festivals as “Slavyanskiy Bazaar” and “Zolotoy Shlyager” (“Golden Smash-hit”). They have travelled with concerts almost all over the country playing in respectable palaces of culture of the regional centres and in modest ones of the district centres. So their popularity is true and well-deserved, and the orchestra is not going to lose it — it is preparing for a new series of “Musical Evenings with the President Orchestra” and another tour.
