Alena Omelyusik finished second in the team race with staggered start at the UCI Road World Championships, held in Qatar’s capital

As part of the professional Canyon SRAM team, the Belarusian athlete, together with the British Hannah Barnes, German Trixi Worrack, Lisa Brennauer, Mieke Kröger and Italian Elena Cecchini posted a result of 49 minutes 29 seconds over the 40km distance. First place was taken by cyclists from the Dutch Boels-Doelmans team, who finished in 48 minutes 41.62 seconds while bronze was claimed by the Cervelo-Bigla cycling group from Switzerland who finished 1 minute 56.47 seconds behind the winners.

The British Sky team, with Belarusian cyclist Vasily Kiriyenko, finished fourth in the men’s competition. Mr. Kiriyenko is the current world champion of 2015 in the individual race with staggered start.
