Council of States of the Swiss Federal Assembly member Filippo Lombardi recently told journalists that Belarus and Switzerland are making a significant contribution to settling the Ukrainian crisis. “I believe that, over the last few months, Switzerland and Belarus have been sister countries, making efforts to bring some understanding to dialogue between conflicting parties in Ukraine,” he said. “Belarus’ initiative and the negotiation process in Minsk [talks on the Ukrainian crisis] have been vital. The roles of our two states in this respect are complementary — in terms of building better understanding between parties to the conflict.” Switzerland is currently presiding over the OSCE and is eager to take all possible measures to de-escalate the conflict.
