Vitaly Gurkov is a champion

The World Muaythai Championship was a success for the Belarusian national team, who claimed ten medals: 5 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze. The champions are: Vitaly Gurkov (under 75kg category), Dmitry Valent (under 81kg), Anatoly Vanakov (under 86kg), Andrey Gerasimchuk (over 91kg) and Yelena Leshkevich (under 45kg). In medal standings the national squad of Belarus is ranked second, after Thailand.

All our athletes have done well but we should probably say separately about Vitaly Gurkov who, after claiming gold, became 11-time world champion. Moreover, in the finals Gurkov defeated Ekapan Sambaansab from Thailand, nicknamed Super X. Before the fight with Gurkov, this athlete hasn’t lost a single match during four years.

Now, our athletes will have a short period of rest before starting to train for the autumn European Championship.
