The heads of state discussed the schedule of joint events for the future. In particular, they focused on two major events: the session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State (which will take place in Minsk at the end of February) and the 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia (which will also take place in the Belarusian capital in June).

The economy was the main area of focus of the conversation, as well as the forthcoming events. The participants of the Supreme State Council session will discuss macroeconomic issues while the forum of regions will concentrate on the efforts of certain industries to overcome economic difficulties.

The heads of state also discussed measures to synchronise efforts in the existing conditions. The leaders pointed out the fact that the agreement on the establishment of a free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU was launched. In this context, they discussed the countries’ short-term activities under these conditions. The presidents also discussed the operation of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Moreover, Mr. Lukashenko and Mr. Putin agreed to have a one-on-one meeting in the near future to discuss bilateral co-operation issues in detail.
