The agreement was reached in Paris at a meeting between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France, Pavel Latushko, and the co-chair of the joint commission and Head of the Bilateral Relations Service of the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance, Sandrine Gaudin.

Issues relating to the first meeting of the joint commission on economic co-operation were discussed. The agenda for the session comprised approximately 20 issues with a focus on trade, economic and investment projects. They planned to discuss the possibility of developing links in energy, agriculture, transport, healthcare and pharmaceuticals. In addition, the agenda tabled items on tourism, the development of the legal framework for trade, economic and investment opportunities. They also aimed to consider the implementation of joint Belarusian-French projects and the participation of Belarusian and French companies in exhibitions planned for both countries.

Mr. Latushko handed over the draft inter-governmental agreement on the avoidance of double taxation between Belarus and France. Both parties have agreed to continue co-operating to further develop trade, economic and investment opportunities between the two states.
