Abolishment closer to hand

Agreement prepared to abolish visas between Belarus and Turkey

The head of the Turkish diplomatic mission in Minsk, Cevat Nezihi Ozkaya, has told BSU students that he expects the abolishment of the visa regime to encourage more Turkish visitors to come to Belarus. Speaking at the event organised by the Dialogue Eurasia public association, with assistance from the Foreign Policy and Security Research Centre, he noted, “When Turkish entrepreneurs look at Belarus they see beyond our borders to the Baltic States, Poland, Ukraine, Scandinavia and huge Russia. When injecting money here, investors have wider prospects in mind.”

The Ambassador also noted that Turkey is a popular place for Belarusian holidaymakers, with 160,000 Belarusian residents travelling there in 2011.
